ARTIST'S STATEMENT
I see Artificial Intelligence not as a replacement for human creativity, but as a collaborator—one that helps me see from new angles, move beyond physical limits, and deepen the conceptual foundation of my work. In this partnership, the machine does not dictate the outcome; it responds, offers, and surprises. My role as artist remains the same: to choose, to shape, to infuse the work with feeling and vision.

WHY I LOVE THE UNCANNY VALLEY
Loving the uncanny valley is actually more common than people think, especially among fans of horror, surreal art, or speculative fiction. Here’s why you might be drawn to it:

Vitruvian Man
Academic ekphrasis describing the appearance of Leonardo da Vinci’s masterwork, Vitruvian Man

The Large Glass by Shelley Lake
The Big Glass explores gender identity, the readymade and the phallus.
The Big Glass is a readymade assemblage that combines an inflatable vinyl doll with a camera. The doll is life-size and wall mounted.

INSIDE THE DIGITAL DOLLHOUSE
Simulation technology blurs the line between fantasy and reality. We think we are viewing the camera's eye but instead we are witness to the mind inside a machine whose collective genius grows at an exponential rate. Three dimensional scene simulation is one approach of many that engages machine intelligence. Photorealism in simulation is an integral part of mainstream media and often we find ourselves unable to tell if what we see is photographic or an artificial representation of our cultural imagination.
